Increase Sales During Crisis

It’s scary right now. Some of our oldest and most trusted financial institutions have collapsed. Big businesses, the ones who are suppose to be bullet proof are closing, or getting gobbled up by competitors. Your best prospects have slammed their wallets shut. Quite honestly their scared and they don’t want to spend a dime that isn’t absolutely necessary.

Plus rather than being a passing problem this crisis could linger 3, 5, even ten years. When a similar economic downturn hit Japan it took the country 14 years to recover. Do you have the cash reserves to wait this out for 14 years? Who does?

Increase Sales Effectiveness

It’s pretty simple conceptually anyway. If you want to increase your sales effectiveness you have to sell more and sell more often. The challenge is translating theory into practice.

Now more than ever before you’re faced with more objections and more rejection because your future customers are deeply concerned about their financial future. This grave concern makes it nearly impossible to sell more and sell more often. As long as you sound like and act like just another salesperson you can expect more rejection.

The goal of every business is to maintain net income during the Great Recession. Yet, that goal may seem impossible to achieve at a time when your patrons are spending less across the board, in general, and cutting back on discretionary spending, in particular.

Marketing Tips To Increase Sales

One frequent question that I receive as an executive business coach is “How do I get more business?” With the economy growing, businesses are seeking a greater piece of the American pie and rightfully so.

My first response is “Can you share with me how many customers are you receiving from your current marketing actions?” And for the most part, the responses I have received are an almost apologetic “No.” Possibly, part of the reason for these consistent responses is that many business owners and executives are so busy working IN the business that they fail to work ON the business.

Increase Sales Training

Many of my speaking presentations along with sales training workshops involve the integration of sales behaviors and business ethics. One of my most favorite questions to ask is “Who is you greatest competitor?”

The responses I usually receive are numerous and usually not the one answer that I am seeking. in business and even in life, our greatest competitor is the Status Quo. In sales, the goal of those crazy busy sales people and small business owners is to move their prospects or potential customers from where they are now (the Status Quo) to a new place.
